"Typefaces" Designed by Chris Costello

Well... that's what they used to be called. Designing typefaces, or fonts, is a labor of love for me. After handlettered book and magazine titles for several major publishers, I thought it would be cool to produce complete character sets from some of these designs for all of you creatives out there. However, if you have ever created fonts from scratch, you will understand how time consuming it is, so please be patient... it can take years. This small but growing library contains completely original and unique font designs, not derivatives or revivals of existing typefaces. Except for Letterpress Text, every font is inspired by my own imagination and most are inked by hand before they are digitized.

These are the designs that I have completed so far and are available for purchase at MyFonts.com.

In Other News...

ITC has reconsidered and it's back to the drawing board with some new takes on the Papyrus font design... concessions, augmentations, etc. Thanks for your support... Stay tuned.

I am also working on Driftwood, another rustic looking font; Sheriden's Letters, created by my daughter when she was 5; and Costello, an elegant text font in three weights. Take a peek at what I have done with them so far.

Check out my feature in DG&G Magazine's 12th Annual Fall Fonts Festival.

Some of my work is featured in Leslie Cabarga's new book, "The Logo, Font and Lettering Bible", from HOW Design Books, publisher of HOW Magazine.
